Part 1: Getting There
“I felt like Frankfurt,
The city itself,
Was trying to tell me something…”

I’m going through a few changes at the moment.
I’ve relegated my old site to the state of a blog and am currently updating the main section.
It’s involved removing a lot of the old posts on this blog, but hopefully from now on, the blog itself will be a lot more meaningful and the main site will contain more of my work.
I’m off to South Africa tomorrow to shoot a wedding.
Work will continue upon my return!

I arrived in Frankfurt on the 28th of June. It will be my new home for the next chapter of my life.
I was only back in the UK for less than a year and I didn’t even have time to catch up with everyone I wanted to. For that I apologise, I hope we can meet up soon.

“An elephant never forgets”
I was rummaging around in the loft through my old belongings and found a box with not only my first ever proper camera (an Olympus Trip S), but also a collection of old photos and negatives that I had forgotten about. It was nice to have the negatives so that I could scan them and have a look properly on screen. The photo above was taken while I was on safari in the Masai Mara game park in Kenya. It must have been 1995 and I think the film was Kodak 100…
Amazing the things we forget…
It’s a good thing cameras are like elephants.

Film: Kodak TRI-X 400
This man was sitting on a rock looking out over the city of Onomichi in Hiroshima prefecture. He was painting a scene of the town in the valley below.
This was one of the last rolls of film I shot in Japan, given to me by a friend.

I’m in a period of transition.
I’ve not left Japan yet, but I don’t feel like I’m here anymore.
My mind is making its way back to England as we speak, but it is not sure what to expect, or what it is looking for.
My heart is beating like crazy in the heat of the Japanese summer.
The only reassuring thing right now is that my body is here, in front of this screen, tapping away on these keys…
…as a whole, unbroken, undivided…
…but missing something.
I hope that my mind, body and heart will all sit down, relax, drink wine and dine together soon.
